MOLINASECA, a town with a long tradition on the French Way, is an attractive place for pilgrims and visitors. The Meruelo river, of uncontaminated waters, flows under the seven-arched bridge.

The Royal Street, lined with emblazoned mansions, gives it an air of antiquity and lordship. The parish church on a hill and the sanctuary of Nuestra Señora de las Angustias protect the activity of its people. The municipality includes the towns of El Acebo, Riego de Ambrós, and Molinaseca. Molinaseca has been known since ancient times as “an oasis on the road”. It begins where Maragatería ends, with the Cruz de Ferro as witness. It is the first municipality in the Bierzo region that the pilgrim encounters after crossing the extensive Castilian plateau. The 20 km. of route make it one of the longest stretches of the Camino de Santiago.
